How can i apply the same conditional formating to different rows simultaneously?

I am trying to apply a conditional formatting of one cell to various cells in the same worksheet by using copy+special paste but all it does is to copy only the format of the first cell.Specifically i want to copy the CF of cell D1 (with references to cells A1 B1 C1 D1) to cells D2 D3 D4 D5 etc automatically without the need to type for each individual cell every time the same CF with cell A1 but changing only the referenced cells (eg for cell D2 reference cells are A2 B2 C2 D2).How do i do this?
