Who was Arno Goethel?

I found a bunch of byline newspaper articles from the 1970's that all talk about sports (mostly the Minnesota Twins), but aren't normal reports of specific games and events. They are mostly tidbits about sports figures that he seems to know personally. Does anybody know more about Arno Goethel? These articles are from a St. Paul, Minnesota paper.
