Why are my friends in the military so immature?

they say the military instills discipline and respect, but anyone i know that ever went in came out for the worse. Where did the idiocy that military service breeds respect come from? Does anyone else get pride from putting obnoxious army boys in their place? No offense to any honorable army men out there...
